I’ve been a MP Island customer for over 11 years. This was my first time at the Portsmouth location. I went for lunch right around noon on a Tuesday. They were quick and the service was amazing! I got jerk chicken with rice & peas, cabbage, plantains, and a chicken patty. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will definitely be visiting this location more.
Great place, Worth the stop, we were just passing through the city. OXTAILS WERE AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS AND FALL OFF THE BONE Grocery store was fully stocked with all the essentials and Caribbean classics.
Oh My Goodness, today was my first visit to MP Island Cafe it was nice and clean and very friendly, she prepared my food with the most polite attitude and she kept a smile on her face. Once I got home and taste my food it was heaven the cabbage was like butter melted in my mouth, the mc& cheese was so cheesy I'm eating as I type. I got the Ox tails and it fell off the bone. I also had the rice and red beans I love everything. It was perfect I drove 21 minutes to get there but it was worth every second. Thank MP Island Cafe it is delicious
Food quality was amazing, their jerk chicken was immaculate and authentic. They asked if I wanted white or dark meat as well. Rice cooked to perfection, mac n cheese was delicious as well Extremely well seasoned Had the beef patty and it was incredible, specially for the price Everything was great for the price If you want authentic tasting food, give this place a try.
Delicious food on the side of a Caribbean convenience store. I had the Jerk chicken and it was falling off the bone good. There's a seating section off to the side of the store where you can sit and eat. Know the atmosphere to expect in terms of it also being a store. No wait staff, you buy food at the counter and go find a table to eat. But food is so good! I ate the whole plate. Also, the restaurant tables of the store close at 720ish. May still be able to get food, but just know that if you are planning to go eat there. I'll be back for sure!
The best Jamaican and Caribbean food place that I have found in the Norfolk and Chesapeake area. Highly recommended. The food is absolutely amazing.
Smiles and more smiles from the beautiful staff as you enter the restaurant, I had the oxtail dinner with delicious mac and cheese and one of the three flavorful rice they offered. Yummy those tender oxtails melted in my mouth. I will be back!
Some of the locations are closing and that makes me sad but they have the BEST jerk chicken in the 757. Carrot cake, corn bread, and sides are all great too. Never had a bad meal from them ever. Green beans are f-in so good too!
